That most wonderful time of year is almost upon us and what better way to add to the celebrations than a festive Christmas crockpot potpourri.

This super simple potpourri is great, while simmering away it releases all your favorite scents of Christmas and serves as a natural humidifier adding moisture to the air as the liquid evaporates.

We all know how the air can get super dry during these cold, winter months, affecting your throat, eyes, skin, and chest and your crockpot is the perfect solution, with the added benefit of making your home smell incredible without needing to buy fancy oils, melts or other chemical related products.

What ingredients should I use?

  • Citrus - Oranges, lemons, tangerines, or grapefruit have a light zesty tang and work perfectly as the base for the spice blend.
  • Cinnamon Sticks - Add a lovely earthy undertone.
  • Cardamom Pods - Brings a floral note to the mix. (if you cannot find these ginger or nutmeg works equally as well)
  • Vanilla - A splash of vanilla offers a welcoming warmth.
  • Cloves - Are simply the essence of Christmas - click here to read more

How to make Christmas Potpourri

All you need to do is add your ingredients to a crockpot. Then add enough water to cover the ingredients, start on high with the lid on and once it has come up to temperature remove the lid and turn on low.

It really is that simple, just remember to check the water level every few hours and replenish if necessary.

This Christmas Potpourri can also be made on the stovetop in a large saucepan and left to simmer on a very low heat.

Remember if you make this in the Crockpot you can move from room to room as required to gain maximum humidification.
