Sauna FAQ

What is an infrared sauna?

An infrared sauna uses heaters that emit infrared light as radiant heat that penetrates into skin and heats your body. Infrared saunas cause sweating at lower temperatures than traditional saunas, so many people find them more comfortable. This also makes them quicker to heat up for use and more energy efficient. They are also considered easier to maintain and have many additional health benefits due to the infrared light.

Why is an infrared sauna good for my health?

Research has shown that infrared saunas have many health benefits including improved cardiovascular health, improved immune function, soothing muscle and joint pain, reduced stress and healthier skin. Maybe the biggest benefit is stress reduction which leads to more relaxation and better sleep.

How can I maximize the effect of my time in the sauna?

For maximum benefits it’s best to sauna bathe regularly, at least 3-5 times per week for 20 minutes per session. More time in the sauna generally has shown increased health benefits. Remember to drink water before and after sauna bathing to stay hydrated!

What is the difference between near infrared and far infrared?

What does full-spectrum mean? The terms near infrared (NIR) and far infrared (FIR) refer to the wavelengths of the light waves. NIR is shorter wavelengths of 700nm to 1400nm that penetrate up to 5mm beneath the skin. FIR is longer wavelengths of 3000nm to 100,000nm and penetrates only 0.1mm beneath the skin. Both have different health effects because they are absorbed differently. A full spectrum sauna includes both NIR and FIR heaters and offers the benefits of both.

What is the difference between Premier series and Sanctuary series saunas? How do I choose a sauna model?

The Premier series is built using FIR heaters and the Sanctuary series uses full spectrum infrared (NIR and FIR) heaters. Both lines of saunas are built with quality materials, expert craftsmanship and beautiful designs. They both have patented infrared heating technology and no EMF/ELF radiation. You should choose your ideal sauna model based on your personal preference for the beauty of the design, space limitations, how many people will use the sauna, and your budget. You also want to look for saunas with low or no EMF/ELF, high-quality non-toxic materials, and expert craftsmanship.

Is infrared heat safe? Who should not use saunas?

Infrared heat has been studied extensively and is considered safe and healthy for most people. Pregnant women and people with severe heat intolerance should not use saunas. If you have any serious health concerns you should check with your doctor before starting a sauna habit.

How difficult is assembly and setup? Do I need a contractor to install my sauna?

Saunas come with detailed instructions for set-up. Sauna assembly is easy and generally takes 2 people 45-90 minutes to complete. No tools are required for the overall assembly except a screw driver for the door handle and the included Allen wrench to connect the glass on Sanctuary models. All our saunas are pre-wired and made with precision craftsmanship so they connect together with ease. Many people do it themselves and some choose a contractor to help with installation. Once assembly is complete the unit can be plugged in and turned on!

What are the electrical requirements for home saunas?

Our saunas run on either 120v or 240v depending on the sauna model and the size of the sauna. Since standard household electrical outlets run at 120 volts, many models require no special electrical work and some models may require the help of an electrician for installation. Please review the specification for the model you are interested in to see the electrical requirements or contact our sauna specialists at 877-865-8035 for more information.

What ongoing maintenance is required for a sauna?

Infrared saunas require very little cleaning and there are no regular maintenance tasks or parts to replace. Infrared saunas provide dry heat, so the only moisture produced is from your own perspiration. The enclosed cabins keep out dust and dirt. The ceramic heaters naturally produce negative ions that help purify the air. Treat the exterior like any piece of fine furniture. You can wipe the interior down with a wet cloth occasionally or special wood cleaner.

Do your saunas come with warranties?

Our saunas come with an incredible LIFETIME limited manufacturer's warranty that applies to the original purchaser (it's non-transferrable), for home use (not commercial), and for indoor sauna use (for outdoor use, the warranty is shorter). The lifetime warranty covers the wooden sauna cabin, factory-installed sauna controls and wiring, factory-installed heater components and factory-installed audio components. Our saunas are built to last a lifetime.

What is your return policy for saunas and sauna products?

All saunas and sauna products can be returned within 30 days of the product received date for a full refund. The buyer is responsible for all return shipping and delivery fees.
