Put some pep in your step with these Sweet and Spicy BBQ Shrimp. These delicious smoky shrimp are simply amazing and my go-to dish for any barbeque.
We love a good barbeque in our house, and over the years I have come to realize you can grill practically anything and it will taste awesome. These BBQ shrimp, however, take the grill to a whole new level.
The only cooking my man does is on the grill, and I’m always excited to take a break from cooking dinner when he wants to barbeque. Usually, by the time I have finished prepping the salads, organizing the dips, marinating the meat and taking everything outside for the chef to cook, my wine is warm, the midges are biting and my kitchen looks like a disaster. It’s usually around then that I wonder, “Why did I not get takeout?”
I can assure you this recipe is so simple and so tasty it will be the only thing you need on your grill, and with pre-prepped salads and dips, a couple of crusty French loaves and the marinade only taking minutes to prepare, I get time to sit back and relax with my wine.
The marinade is super quick to make using a few simple ingredients. I usually leave the shrimp to soak for 20 minutes or so before draining the marinade and then replacing it in the fridge until we are ready to eat.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy watching your chef grill up an amazing dinner.
Sweet and Spicy BBQ Shrimp
2 lbs Raw Shrimp, peeled and deveined with tail attached
1/3 c Olive Oil
1/2 tsp Tabasco Sauce
1/4 c Lime Juice
3 tsp Garlic, minced
2 tsp Fresh Cilantro, chopped
1 T Honey
2 T Worcestershire Sauce
Salt + Pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into a large, flat tray and mix to combine. Thread the shrimp on skewers, add them to the marinade, cover with cling wrap and place in the fridge for 20 minutes.
Leave the shrimp in the marinade for a maximum of 40 minutes before grilling them on high heat for 4-5 minutes, turning once and brushing each side with the remaining marinade.
Serve with salad and crusty bread to mop up those delicious juices.
