cbd oil with cannabis leaves

No, it won't get you high and yes it is perfectly legal.

CBD oil is quite literally everywhere at the moment, from candles to cocktails, and potentially the most exciting place it’s been put to use is skincare. Cannabidiol (CBD for short) is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in Cannabis plants. An impressive body of research shows CBD oil to have highly effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and when mixed with a carrier oil it has a vast range of beauty uses.

Cannabis has been used for skin problems for centuries, albeit in a more primitive form: early civilizations ground the leaves and mixed them with fats or oils before applying as a poultice to the skin for inflammation. Nowadays CBD oil is extracted using modern technology from the leaves, flowers and stems, but the anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial benefits are just as potent.

There are 3 different types of CBD oil:

  1. CBD Isolate - The purest form, usually extracted from hemp. All non-CBD cannabis compounds are completely removed during multiple purification processes, including all THC (the psychoactive component of cannabis).
  2. Full-spectrum CBD - Contains the whole range of compounds found in the cannabis plant, including cannabinoids other than CBD and trace amounts of THC. These other compounds also have therapeutic properties and can amplify the healing effects of CBD.
  3. Broad-spectrum CBD - This in-between variety features a variety of cannabis compounds, like full-spectrum CBD, but has gone through further purification to remove all THC. Broad-spectrum is the newest form of CBD to hit the market, and has had the least research done.

Each of the above CBD varieties has its own benefits and drawbacks, and it’s important to check the CBD type of any product you are considering trying out.

CBD Oil for Acne

CBD oil has anti-inflammatory properties and when used on acne-prone skin it reduces inflammation and calms redness. It also appears to decrease sebum oil production, and its antibacterial traits fight your breakouts at the microbial source. In other words: CBD oil might be that magic bullet you’re looking for to beat all the causes and symptoms of acne.

CBD Oil for Anti-Aging

Like most plant extracts, CBD oil has antioxidant properties which lessen the signs of aging and protect your skin when topically applied. CBD anti-aging creams can lessen that ruddy complexion and brighten skin.

CBD Oil for Sensitive Skin

The oil has significant soothing properties and can minimize common sensitive-skin issues such as redness and irritation.

I am sure as time goes on we will discover many more benefits from this wonderful oil, but for now I am more than happy to take a deeper look at how it can help me. So I'm off to the shops to sample some for myself. Let me know how you get on and if you have any personal insights into this skincare solution as it finally takes its place in the spotlight.
